On Sunday evening, August 23, 2026, around 6:10 p.m., the National Weather Service confirmed an EF0 tornado (classified as a landspout) touched down in Port St. Lucie, St. Lucie County.
The tornado began near SE Kitching Cove Lane and SE Morningside Boulevard (close to the Tarpon Bay Yacht Club). It moved over the St. Lucie River as a waterspout for several minutes before coming back onshore in the Bay St. Lucie area, ending near SE Quay Street and SE Cody Place around 6:25 p.m.
The path was about 2.1 miles long with a maximum width of 200 yards. Estimated winds reached 65–75 mph. Approximately 20–30 homes sustained minor to moderate damage, including roof and soffit issues, lifted pool enclosures, and downed trees and large branches. Thankfully, no injuries have been reported and no homes were completely destroyed.
